This spring and summer the CityParks PuppetMobile will present free performances of Cinderella Samba in parks across the five boroughs. A modernized revue of the classic tale set in the landscape of Brazil, this fairy tale finds Cinderella and her Prince in a Samba contest at the Carnival Ball.
The production features an original commissioned musical soundtrack that brings samba center-stage; handcrafted Carnaval festival floats on parade; and marionettes donning Carnival costumes, created by the expert puppeteers from the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater in Central Park.
The show coincides with the tail end of centennial anniversary celebrations taking place this year to commemorate samba’s origination in Brazil in late 1916.
The show runs from May 1 to early fall 2017. To find out more information on the date, time and locations of all performances click the link: http://www.cityparksfoundation.org/events/category/puppetmobile/
